Angie Thomas is a New York Times bestselling author and former teen rapper from Jackson, Mississippi. She holds a BFA in Creative Writing and was inspired to write The Hate U Give after the police shooting of Oscar Grant. Her work focuses on giving voice to young Black Americans navigating complex social realities.
