Mary Shelley

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797–1851) was an English novelist who wrote Frankenstein at eighteen during a ghost story competition at the Villa Diodati. Daughter of philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft, she became one of the founding figures of science fiction and gothic literature.
