Robert K. Ressler (1937–2013) was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for twenty years, where he helped create the modern science of criminal profiling and is credited with coining the term 'serial killer.' He co-founded the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP) and later worked as a consultant and expert witness in high-profile murder cases. He is also the author of Justice Is Served and Sexual Homicide.
