Is Hexed Worth Reading?
Never After Series, Book 6
Ada’s Score
The sixth Never After installment reworks fairy-tale bones into a mafia romance between a syndicate underboss and his fiancée's cousin. McIntire knows exactly what her readers want and delivers the forbidden-love tension with practiced efficiency. The emotional stakes, however, run on genre autopilot, and the dark-romance trappings feel increasingly decorative this deep into the series. It's competent comfort food for the devoted.
“McIntire delivers the forbidden-love beats with real confidence, and the mafia setting gives it heat. By book six, though, the fairy-tale frame is mostly ornament.”

Ada’s reservations
The forbidden-romance tension runs on genre autopilot and the fairy-tale conceit has worn to decoration. Experienced dark-romance readers will find little new. For series loyalists, the formula still satisfies.
